AYSCBC School Council Handbook (December 2025 edition)

As part of its work to support school council members, the Association of Yukon School Councils, Boards & Committees (AYSCBC) is pleased to present the AYSCBC School Council Handbook. The handbook which was originally launched in 2010, has since been updated and was released in 2026. The document provides a detailed overview of the roles and responsibilities of school council members as well as tools, templates and tips to guide and support School Council members and their work in support of their school communities. Printed copies are also available.

As the guide is intended to be an ‘evergreen/living’ document, we welcome input regarding suggested changes and/or topics that members would like to see addressed in future iterations.

We would like to thank the Department of Education, Catholic Education Association of Yukon (CEAY) and members of the AYSCBC for all of their invaluable contributions in support of the development of this document. We are both grateful and appreciative of the collaboration which occurred over the course of a number of months to bring this important initiative to fruition. As partners, we look forward to building upon this important work in the years ahead and continuing to support Yukon School Councils.
