Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act Consultations
The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act has been in effect since 1996. It provides Yukoners with access to information held by government institutions, and protects the privacy of individual people whose information is held by those institutions.
ATIPP aims to strike a balance between the Government of Yukon’s obligation to protect an individual’s personal information in its custody and/or control, and the public’s right to know how government operates.
Yukon government departments and other entities defined as 'public bodies' in the Act are subject to the Act.
In the past 3 years there have been two consultations concerning this Act. The one in 2008 sought input regarding possible amendments to the Act. Subsequent to that consultation, amendments were made to the Legislation in 2009.
In 2011 further consultation was undertaken to gather feedback on proposed criteria to be used as guidelines for identifying which bodies should be covered under ATIPP.

School Councils' Conferences
After each School Councils' Conference that AYSCBC is involved with planning or organizing, a follow up letter is sent to the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Education outlining the Recommendations that were made and supported by the delegates attending the event.
